Jessa Smith, NDA 2019, is Triton of the Week for the week of January 7, 2019.
A shining star at NDA, Smith never fails to help out in whatever way she can. From Tritonfest to Phone-a-Thon to ASTRA, she is the definition of a student servant.
As president of the ASTRA service club, Smith is in charge of coordinating with NDA employees in connecting student volunteers with NDA and community events.
"Jessa was continuously in contact with me beginning in August to make sure that ASTRA signed up as many times as needed for Phone-a-Thon," said Claire Teitz, NDA advancement specialist. Not only did she coordinate the volunteers, but Smith herself raised nearly $4,000 toward the cause.

Her responsiveness and professionalism also shine through within the NDA walls. "I attended an ASTRA meeting that Jessa led regarding Tritonfest. I was extremely impressed by the way she carried herself in front of her fellow students," said Geno McKenna, director of events & alumni relations. "Whenever I work with Jessa, I am certain that the student volunteers will be respectful, hardworking, and on time, which says a lot about her character and leadership."
In the classroom, Smith is an IB Diploma candidate, is involved in band, and maintains a 3.96 GPA. In addition, she was the captain of the Cross Country Team, is president of the Environmental Club, and is a math tutor at Notre Dame of De Pere, all while holding down two part time jobs.
"I find Jessa to be an excellent citizen, always pleasant and helpful," concluded Teitz.
