Marcus Hornacek named Triton of the Week

Versatility is one of Marcus Hornacek's greatest attributes.

The senior is a National Honor Society student and will graduate from Notre Dame Academy with eight varsity letters in four different sports.

"Marcus is simply a great young man," Principal Patrick Browne said. "His can-do-100-percent-all-in attitude shines through in the classroom, on the playing field and in the community."

For his efforts, Hornacek is the Triton of the Week for the week of Dec.9, 2019.

Hornacek plans to attend Viterbo University in La Crosse, where he'll pursue a business degree and play baseball.

While he's seen success in all of the sports he's participated in, baseball has always been his favorite.

"It's always been something that I've done since I was really young," said Hornacek, who also plays football and basketball in addition to lettering on the cross country team as a sophomore.

"I played all the way from T-ball until now. I've had a lot of great coaches that have had a big impact on my life."

Hornacek has made an impact in the community by volunteering at Paul's Pantry, St. John's Homeless Shelter and Freedom House.

As the oldest of four boys in his family, he strives to be a positive influence for his younger brothers.

Hornacek appreciates the role teachers, faculty, coaches and community members have played during his days at NDA.

He looks forward to use the skills he's developed over the years to pursue his career goals.

"I want to be in a leadership role in business or after my four years (of college)," Hornacek said. "I might look into law school at some point because being a lawyer is something that interests me."
