Please read through this information for changes to transportation of NDA students in 2017-18.

The Green Bay Area Public School District provides school bus service for our students who reside in the Green Bay Area Public School District. For many years, GBAPS has partnered with Green Bay Metro Transit to transport students in the district, including our NDA students.

Recently they have expanded their partnership, and, as a result, there will be changes in 2017-18 to how some students will be transported to and from NDA. The changes were designed to be more efficient for students and Green Bay Metro. The GBAPS will be reviewing the transportation for all students in their district to determine if riding a yellow school bus or Green Bay Metro is the most efficient for the student and the district. Therefore, some students who rode on a yellow school bus previously may be assigned to Green Bay Metro next year.

Starting next year, students who are assigned to a Green Bay Metro bus will receive a badge that indicates they are eligible for a free ride to NDA between 6-7:45 a.m. and from NDA between 3-4:30 p.m. Students will need to show a photo ID with their assigned badge from the GBAPS to ride the bus for free. There will be no more Metro bus passes for students who reside in the GBAPS. In addition, route MT76 will no longer be available for our students. Instead, students will ride MT78. Click here to view MT78.

Due to the public transportation guidelines, all Metro buses have highly qualified drivers and video surveillance to assure our students' safety on the bus. The GBAPS will send NDA families a letter in the summer that will provide individual route details and a flyer for how to ride the Metro bus. Once you receive this information, we would encourage you to review the route that your student's bus will be taking through the city.

Students will also be authorized to use the fixed route system during the times outline above, which may provide more options for your student than the previous route MT76. Students who choose to use the fixed route service will likely require a transfer at the Metro station. However, the transfer should be easy to navigate and the wait should be a short one. Students should plan ahead to know their bus's route and hourly pick-up/drop-off times to ensure that they are to school on time prior to 7:55 a.m. and they depart from NDA by 4:30 p.m.

For students who reside in the East De Pere School District, NDA will continue to provide a bus pass to your student to be transported via Green Bay Metro to NDA. East De Pere School District students will not need to show ID or a badge to ride the bus. The NDA-issued bus pass will be all that they need. These passes are monthly passes and are issued by NDA. Please note that route MT76 will no longer be available for our East De Pere students and they will need to use the fixed route system or MT78 like our students who reside in the GBAPSD.

We are communicating these changes now so that if there are any issues or concerns we can address those prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year. As of now, there are no changes to the bus transportation for students who reside in the Howard-Suamico, West De Pere, or Pulaski school districts. It is our goal to have a smooth start transporting our students to school. If you have any questions, please contact the main office.
