After School Safety Procedures Beginning Monday, March 25
The safety of our students and staff is a priority for our school. NDA strives to stay abreast of the best practices in school safety. As the world evolves, our policies and procedures evolve to protect us. Our School Safety & Security Committee recently completed an assessment of the safety and security of our school. The results of the assessment indicated there were some points of vulnerability that needed to be addressed to align with the requirements of WI Act 143. The assessment identified the need to develop effective safety plans for immediately after school into the evening hours. NDA is not unique as high schools around the country are working to develop these kind of plans.
Some best practices we can implement are: locking doors, securing areas of the school, and monitoring any unlocked doors, particularly with an adult present. We will be working to implement these practices after the school day is complete.
To help us develop an after school safety plan, we are piloting these new procedures for the spring starting on Monday, March 25. As we pilot these procedures, we realize that different seasons of the year have different needs for our building. We are taking those needs into consideration as we develop these plans. If any of these procedures will present challenges for your family, please contact the main office so we can work through those challenges. Again, we are piloting these procedures. If we need to adjust them during this period, we will make the adjustments and communicate with you.
