Desotell signs National Letter of Intent with St. Thomas
Notre Dame Academy senior Molly Desotell signed a National Letter of Intent on Feb. 8 with the University of St. Thomas women’s cross country and track team.
Desotell is a four-time WIAA state qualifier and three-time medalist in cross country. Competing in the Division 1 field for the first time as a senior, she placed sixth with a time of 18 minutes, 37 seconds on Oct. 31.
“She made personal choices and sacrifices that required great discipline to become one of the best high school runners in Wisconsin,” Notre Dame cross country and track coach John Gard said.
She also earned third- and seventh-place medals in her prep career in Division 2 after bursting onto the scene as a freshman by finishing 12th at state. Desotell has advanced to the WIAA state track and field meet once, qualifying as a leg of the 3,200-meter relay team as a sophomore.
St. Thomas is currently an NCAA Division III program. However, the college will be transitioning to becoming an NCAA Division I program for the 2021-22 season.
“St. Thomas feels much like our (Notre Dame) cross country team,” Desotell said. “A team where people care and people are family.”
Molly is the daughter of Kim and Tim Desotell. She plans to pursue a business degree at St. Thomas.
