Hockey, Girls Basketball advance in postseason

The Notre Dame Academy boys hockey team advanced to the WIAA state tournament for a second consecutive year.

The Tritons topped Bay Port, 3-2, in a sectional final on Feb. 13 to punch their ticket back to state after finishing as the Division 1 state runner-up last season. Read The Press Times' coverage of the game.

The NDA hockey team is seeded No. 3 and will play at No. 2 Hudson on Feb. 18 in a D1 state semifinal.

The winner will advance to Saturday’s state championship game at 2:30 p.m. in Wisconsin Rapids. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be the first boys state championship game not held at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison since 1979.

Meanwhile, the NDA girls basketball team won another WIAA Division 2 regional title by upending West De Pere, 83-52, on Feb. 14.

The top-seeded Tritons will play host to No. 4 Shawano on Feb. 18 in a D2 sectional semifinal.

The NDA boys basketball team will open the WIAA Division 2 playoffs by hosting either Freedom or Waupaca on Feb. 19.
