It was a great weekend to be a Triton!
Junior Molly Desotell and the boys cross country team advanced to the WIAA state meet with strong performances last Saturday at the Division 2 cross country sectional in Two Rivers.
Desotell won the girls race to qualify for state as an individual with a blazing time of 18 minutes, 44.8 seconds, which was the third-fastest time across all three divisions in the state. She powered the girls team to a fifth-place finish in advancing to state for the third time in her career.
The boys cross country team finished as the sectional runner-up to qualify for state for the eighth straight year. All seven runners (Reid Milton, Conner Hawley, Owen Brummel, Adam Homel, Howie Gerstner, Adam Brada, Federrico Auricchio) on the squad finished in the Top 25 out of 103 runners at the sectional.
On Saturday afternoon, the boys soccer team hosted posted a 2-0 shutout victory over Xavier to win a WIAA Division 3 regional championship. The boys soccer team will host Plymouth Thursday at 4 p.m. on Ted Fritsch Field.
Finally on Saturday night, the girls volleyball team upended second-seeded Denmark 30-28, 25-19, 21-25, 25-19 to win its 10th straight WIAA Division 2 regional title. The third-seeded Tritons will play at top-seeded Luxemburg-Casco Thursday at 7 p.m.
