New Visitor Management System at NDA
New Visitor Management System at NDA
Notre Dame Academy was blessed to receive two school safety grants from the State of Wisconsin totaling $65,000 for security improvements and training for staff. As part of the grant, the State of Wisconsin approved the following purchases:
  • 3M Safety and Security Film for all exterior doors and sidelight windows for each exit to the school building
  • Installation of an Internal Camera System
  • Visitor Management & Screening System
  • Automatic Door Closing and Locking Mechanisms for the Interior Doors of the Atrium Entrance
  • Additional Adolescent Mental Health Training for Faculty & Staff
  • Threat Assessment Training
NDA is working closely with the State of Wisconsin and vendors for the installation of the items. We anticipate the 3M Safety Film and Internal Camera System to be installed this semester. Mr. Eric Novotny, NDA director of maintenance, and Ms. Gina Fredrick, NDA director of technology, are working with local vendors on the plan for the automatic door closing mechanisms while plans are being made for the training of staff.

Visitor Management System (VMS)
A critical component of school safety is having various controls in place for visitors who have access to the school building. NDA has always had a visitor policy that aligns with current state laws and best practices for school safety.

With new, affordable technology available to schools, the use of a VMS provides the technology to assist our staff in ensuring the safest environment possible for our students and staff. Schools were encouraged to purchase a VMS with the available grant money. NDA, like many other local schools, is implementing a VMS.

What is the new VMS?
NDA's new VMS will check all visitors against the registered sex offender lists before a visitor is granted access to the school building. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Patrick Browne, NDA principal, or Mr. Greg Masarik, NDA associate principal, at (920) 429-6100.

How does this affect you?

NDA will implement the following procedures effective on Monday, January 21:
  • All visitors that arrive between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. must register at the atrium entrance and provide a driver's license or state issued photo ID.
  • The VMS will scan the driver's license/ID. If the visitor does not have an ID, then he/she will need to enter their name and date of birth.
  • All visitors must have their photo taken by the VMS.
  • The atrium receptionist will present the visitor with the visitor badge that must be worn at all times throughout the building.
  • All visitors must provide the atrium receptionist with vehicle information (make, model, color) when they arrive to use the VMS.
  • All visitors must check out at the atrium receptionist desk and return their badge/scan out through the VMS.
  • If a visitor leaves after 3:30 p.m., the visitor will not need to scan out through the VMS.
