Principal's Notes: Make time for self-reflection

Hopefully you've had the opportunity to "meet" your child's teachers by visiting the Meet Our Faculty page of the website. Remember we are here to help and work with you on behalf of your son/daughter.

On Friday we will be having a Professional Development Day. Teachers will have the opportunity to continue to learn "Best Practices for Teaching Reading in the Content Areas." Our presenter is Dr. Chelsea Faase, a full professor at UW-Oshkosh and an NDA graduate. We will also continue working on our accreditation requirements and beginning a dialogue regarding our prayer life at NDA with Norbertine priest and Yale graduate student, Fr. Matthew Dougherty.

“There is no path to peace, but peace itself is the path.”
― Richard Rohr, Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality

Finding a path forward. ... I am certain you would agree the past six months have been difficult because of the pandemic, but perhaps more so because our society is caught in an "us" vs. "them" way of thinking where humility has become a sin and being "right" is the highest value. This type of thinking by its nature creates conflict both within each person and within society and pulls us away from embracing our calling to be brothers and sisters in Christ. If you find yourself tired of seeing life through this lens, take time to learn more about Fr. Richard Rohr, a Franciscan priest, who encourages us to embrace a non dualistic approach, unitive consciousness in order to better understand reality and be open and patient with mystery and ambiguity. More information can easily be found by Googling his name or visiting YouTube.
