Taylor Massart grew up in a military family.
Her father served in the Navy, just like her paternal grandfather did. She also has an uncle and an aunt who served in the Navy.
The Notre Dame Academy senior is well on her way to continuing her family's legacy of serving our country after completing the U.S. Army's 10-week basic combat training in Fort Jackson, S.C.
"I think that is an amazing thing for a high school student to do during their summer break," said Science Teacher Joy Mayer, who has Massart in her IB Biology class.
For her efforts, Massart is Triton of the Week for the week of Sept. 30, 2019.
In addition to pursuing her military aspirations, Massart is a member of the girls soccer team, ASTRA Service Club, Spanish Club, and the Medicine, Health and Society Club.
She aspires to be a medic in the Army, where her next step is Advanced Individual Training in Virginia next year.
