John Pergande attended Premontre High School from 1978 to 1981 and earned six varsity letters while competing in basketball, football and track & field. After graduation, Pergande attended Yale University where he played football for two years, lettering once, and where he rowed on the crew team for four years, lettering three times.

“I have to thank Dan Jadin (PHS 1979) and the Cadets football team for winning the state football championship. That win put Premontre on the Ivy League recruiting map and brought Yale coach Dave Kelly to Green Bay,” Pergande said.

The Yale rowing team finished second in the U.S. National Championships in 1984. Pergande graduated from Yale with a degree in economics and political science in 1985.

Following graduation from Yale, Pergande worked for Spear Leeds & Kellogg on the floor of the New York Futures Exchange. He was also a market-maker on the floor of Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) with his brother, Mike (PHS 1977). Then, after two years trading stock options at the CBOE, he received an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. It was during his time in Chicago and Evanston that Pergande was also the coach of the Northwestern men’s rowing team. After business school he worked as a corporate banker for Citibank in Dallas and in corporate finance at Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Since 2003, Pergande has been CEO of InsureZone, a software company and a wholesale insurance broker based in Fort Worth, Texas that he founded in 1999.  InsureZone was established to sell insurance online using one of the insurance industry’s first insuretech platforms. Its early customers included Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank. InsureZone’s creation is the result of Pergande's work with Buena Venture Associates (BVA), a venture capital firm based in Fort Worth where from 1996 to 2003 he was general partner. Through BVA, Pergande invested in and was on the board of eight companies, some private and some public. The first company he bought was Pyramid Services in 1996, a software company that specialized in worker’s compensation claims handling that was owned by AON.

Pergande's nonprofit interests include the STAR Scholarship Fund, Cristo Rey, the Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation, The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Symphony. As a native of Green Bay, it’s no surprise that he remains a Packers fan. “One of the bigger challenges I have faced in life is living in a state where people really believe that the Cowboys are America’s Team.” Pergande and his wife, Frasher, have lived in Fort Worth since 1998. They have three sons who all attended universities outside the state of Texas. The oldest, Morgan, was a Morehead Scholar at The University of North Carolina (business degree in 2017).  The middle son, Graham, attended Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va. (psychology in 2020). The youngest, Spencer, attended the University of Virginia (mechanical engineering in 2021).

While living in Green Bay, Pergande was a member of St. John the Evangelist parish. Pergande and his family have been members of Holy Family parish for nearly 25 years. His real passions have been around education and the arts. Since 2001, Pergande has served as a board member of STAR – Children’s Scholarship Fund (his favorite charity) that provides scholarships to and mentors students who are not thriving in their current school and whose families do not have the resources to attend a private school. Most scholarship recipients attend Catholic schools in the Fort Worth area. “It is quite remarkable for me to see how a new educational opportunity can change the path of a child’s life in such profound ways, but more amazingly often times, the child’s new path changes the opportunity path for their family as well.”
